the rock bar (ayana resort, bali)

ayana resort

the queue for entrance to the rock bar

the rock bar...
possibly the best bar i've ever visited. overhanging rocks, it is the lowest part of the beautiful ayana resort and is accessed by cable car. cool, laid back vibe, great cocktails with the sound of water on rocks below..

WOW-- this kind of bar would not be found in malaysia. it's essentially carved into the side of a cliff... ignoring the environmental impact, the view is absolutely spectacular and the drinks are good too. the prices are extremely expensive, but in my mind worth it for the atmosphere.

recommend getting there early. bar opens at 4.00pm and there was a line up (which we expected). dispute the hot and long queue to go down to the bar, the experience was amazing, the view is priceless !

i was told if you go to bali and if you only do one thing it must be to go to the Rock Bar. now that i've been, and i understand why. it's totally unique. a must do and well worth the queue. we got there at 4:30pm, there was a queue which took about 30 mins to get through but it was only because the only way you can get to the bar is to go down a cable car down the cliff which holds about 6-7 people. the only other thing that slows the queue is the priority entry to hotel guests. completely understandable given the fact they are paying to stay at the resort. once we were in...  we were blown away! it was amazing! you were so close to the waves, the spray would sometimes get you. it literally is right over the water. was bigger than i expected with a few different areas to sit. tt was well organized. the staffs were attentive and pleasant. the drinks menu was extensive and the food menu was reasonable. no meals, just snacks and bar food. let's not forget, everything must come down the cliff so they are limited. the cocktails were probably the best of the holiday.

pricing was what i expected. not cheap and probably on the dearer side of bar prices in bali. pricing was on par with any 5 star resort.

did that matter? no. i would have paid more. the experience was well worth it. i would definitely go again. i would definitely queue again....
