Pamukkale in Turkish means cotton castle, and the formations do look somewhat like cotton, but more like a snow-covered mountain. even more impressive than the Pamukkale hot springs, is the scenery! warm water flows down the hillside above the town, leaving white calcium deposits that coat the hill like a frozen marshmallow curtain. small pools and terraces add lacework to the blanket of white, and I had to blink my eyes a few times when I first saw it !!!
